Think of it. that sensual feeling of sitting in a comfortable chair, or the perfect breeze, a hot bath or shower, a warm blanket, the smell of something good baking, sunlight in a beautiful room, the experience of the ocean or a soft gentle rain.
You are a human that is alive. That feeling is how you’re supposed to feel. We have these big complicated brains that let us do all kinds of things, but do we need to do them all?
Knowing how to do something, remembering, enjoyment of both capabilities and challenges, is why we have these big brains: To create and solve. To adapt to changing situations. To express and understand. To be better.
It’s so easy to get lost in the doing. We lose sense of all those sensations, and all those fascinating processes inside us. Not the chatter, but the intent of learning and being more of what is needed. Not the needing, but the improvement with trial and change.
Think of a skill you have developed. Think of all you have learned since you came into being. Think of all you could know and do and be…and know you will not live long enough to do it all. Now what do you want to do and be? Do you feel stronger? Take your time and have fun sorting. What sustains and enriches you? Don’t get lost in obstacles… it’s not yet time to go there. What adds to life? Not just your own, but what adds to the world as a people of all animals and plants, but also the planet as a living form amongst a larger space? Does it make you want more? Not in the sense of endless toiling and struggle for pointless gain, but “more” in the sense of curiosity, generosity, and evolution.
Hold on to that comfort and stirring. That human way of being and reaching just a little further. Be awake to your body and limitations, but see beyond. Grow whether you know it or not.
